Who Are They
This Utah-based band formed out of college. Members from Brigham Young University and Berklee School of Music joined forces and moved to Las Vegas to record several EPs before releasing their major label debut, Night Visions. Their second single, the Grammy-winning “Radioactive”, is the biggest selling digital rock song of all time and the longest charting song in the history of Billboard, spending a dizzying 87 weeks on the Hot 100 Singles chart.
What Are Their Messages
Imagine Dragons’ music is loaded with spiritual references, whether it be addressing their battles with personal demons or having an awakening and starting over new. They seem to shy away from speaking about their religious beliefs for the most part, instead saying, “We aren't the most eloquent or perfect people, but we just do our best to present something to society that hopefully makes someone's hard day a little bit better.”
What Does a Youthworker Need2Know
It is likely that almost every student in your youth group has at least heard one of Imagine Dragons’ songs. As a band, they are an alternative to many other current rock bands who celebrate rebellion, hedonism and worldliness as a whole. Lead singer Dan Reynolds seems to have a pretty good idea of what really matters, stating, “If you’ve got food, a house and people that love you, you’ve got a lot more than 90 percent of the world. So we’re definitely blessed.”
