| Owl City-John Mayer “Backstage” Report |

Maybe you've found yourself in this youth leader scenario...
you're at a high school event and you observe one of your leadership students in the middle of a group of friends... they are honest, caring and engaged in relationships of integrity. You smile knowing they are going to be real, acknowledge their Father, share their faith and be there to walk alongside their friends through life.
We feel that same way about Adam from Owl City. Currently he is on tour with John Mayer and as our interlinc staff have dropped in on the tour in San Diego, Dallas and Denver, we've had that same youth leader smile.
Adam would quickly acknowledge that he is typically a shy person. We've been so excited to see Adam's joy and faithful personality start to shine through more and more from stage and to the people around him. He has also (very wisely) sought out a road "pastor/mentor" (or as John Mayer says a “spiritual guide”) to spend time with him and the band. This man is Brad Corrigan (see San Diego picture) - Brad is an artist, missionary and a faithful man of God's word and has been a wonderful voice of truth and love in Adam's life. (YLO members, you'll get to see Brad's mission work in the garbage dumps of Nicaragua in the next November Missions-Themed YLO Box)
We're so proud of Adam and how he is staying faithful, accountable and listening to God on this tour. We rejoice at both the thousands of people in the audience singing Fireflies... and watching Adam sing from his heart on Meteor Shower " ... I am not my own, For I have been made new..." But, we also rejoice in the conversations he is having with others backstage as people observe how they interact and see that difference in his life.
We hope you will join us in praying for Adam. Not just for the opportunities, but that God will continue to do what He wants in and through Adam. And we'll keep smiling - watching and rejoicing as he "goes" and "grows".

Note from Allen at the Denver Concert: John Mayer had some interesting (and out of the ordinary) things to say at the Red Rocks Concert. Please continue to ask the Lord to open John’s heart. Here is a rough paraphrase (so the words will not be in quotation marks).
I am going to say something that I am afraid may sound sacreligious, but in fact I mean it to be religious...sometimes I kneel/bow down at the amplifier and think of the amazing guitarists who have preceded me...like Jimi Hendrix. I don’t want to be Jimi Hendrix”...he died at 27!!! I want to be a great guitarist...good enough so you will want to come and hear me play...I do not want to be so great that I begin to see things that are not there.
There is a growing powerful force that has a divisive impact upon all of us and it is not even real...an increasing sense of hatred and distance between people falsely exaggerated by the use of the internet to spread demeaning and hateful words...hateful words that would never be spoken when people are face to face...I do not want to be corrupted/contaminated by the internet...I have an analog heart. If you have something to tell me, please come up to me and tell me to my face...
