Britt Nicole
By Scott Osterbind
interlinc: The title track to your new album The Lost Get Found is a story of when you missed an opportunity to minister to a stranger at the mall. Can you share this incident and what you learned about being obedient to God’s voice?

Britt:Yes, I was standing in a store at the mall when I noticed a lady in front of me and felt God tug at my heart and tell me to go and talk to her. She was a stranger, so I immediately started thinking about how to start the conversation, but I was also thinking about my friend who was there with me, and what he would think if I just walked up to this lady and started talking to her about God. I was too worried about others’ opinions, and not worried enough about God’s.

There are so many lost and broken people around us everyday and we are here to be Jesus’ hands and feet, and reach out to the least of these. I was too selfish that day, and did not reach out to this lady. I ended up watching her walk down the mall and just kept thinking, “what is wrong with me, why can't I move?” Who knows what this lady was going through or even if God was going to use her to bless me. We never know why God asks us to do certain things, but we must always be willing to obey His voice, and care more about His call on us than the opinions of others.

interlinc: Your song “Walk On Water” has an incredible message for today’s youth, “to step out, even when it’s storming, you don’t have to be afraid”. Is there a time you in your life when you were discouraged, but your trust in God helped you to press on?

Britt: Yes, just recently when I was finishing up the new record, I was facing some difficult times. I lost a friend who was only 24 years old, my car broke down on the way to her funeral, I got very sick and wasn’t even able sing at a point where we were really running behind on getting the album completed. It was a crazy couple of weeks, but I had to trust that God was in control, and that He was working everything out. God is always so faithful so I don't know why we doubt Him. God just kept reminding me that He had been faithful before and He will be faithful again. He is always reminding me “to NOT WORRY, He’s got it all under control,” after all He is God!

interlinc: I understand you are very involved in Youth Ministry at your home church. How does working with students have an impact when your song writing?

Britt: I get to see what they’re going through up close and personal. I get to see their fears, their struggles at home and at school, I really get to know who they are, what they like, and what they dislike. That definitely impacts my songs in a big way. " Feel the Light" was actually written about a girl in my youth group who had gone through some difficult things as a child.

interlinc: You are headed out on the Revolve Tour 4Real this fall, how are you preparing yourself for the twelve two day events around the country?

Britt: Well I've been pretty busy finishing the album and on a tour for the last several months, but I am now preparing mentally and spiritually for what God would have me share with the girls that will be there. I think it is so important to just be still and hear what God is saying. He knows exactly what these girls need to hear so I am just praying that I can be His mouthpiece and show these girls real love.

interlinc: Being a musician and working with students at your church requires you to give so much of yourself; is there a specific person in your life that influences you spiritually?

Britt: It is hard to stay connected when you’re always going, but I do have a great church and pastor that I love, a great family who keeps me accountable and reminds me of who I am, and some great women at my church who are always available for encouragement and just good company.
