Very cool stuff... as reported by WNDU - NBC affiliate in South Bend
"Hundreds turned out for a free concert Tuesday night in Elkhart.
It took place at the Crossroads Community Church's north campus on Middlebury Street and featured the bands Revive and 1000 Generations.
It was billed as a show for the "underworked and out of work."
"Nobody has tickets for a concert anymore," said Corey Mann of Pulse FM. "So we wanted to make it easy and as accessible as possible. Luckily we found an amazing church to partner with and two amazing bands to perform for us."
"We heard that you really can't get in unless you're struggling or out of work, and we thought 'man, what a great show to play...people who appreciate a free night out,'" said Dave Hanbury, lead singer of Revive.
The concert was sponsored by the radio station Pulse FM. The station gave tickets to listeners who called in and talked about theirs struggles."
Rich (from the band) share his perspective on the whole thing:
Yesterday we were in a town called Elkhart - in Indiana. This town has been hit BAD by the recent economic problems. It has the highest rate of unemployment in the whole of America - around 20%.
So we came in, and with the help of WHPZ - a really awesome radio station with a heart for people - we put on a free concert to the folks of Elkhart.
But there was one catch... you had to have no job to come along! Only unemployed folk were invited. It was a beautiful night filled with beautiful people. We were so glad we did it.
